Minimalist Dylan
(Behind the Broken Mirror)
Minimalism has many forms and objectives, in art and in life.
In my fascination with faces taking a minimalist approach has to do
with seeing if one can produce a recognizable image using a minimal number
of lines, shapes or forms to capture something of its essence
and transmit it visually.

Dylanesque, Vol. Two
Picture of the Day
Dylanesque, Volume Two
Acrylic and latex on panel, 12"x 24"
How does an artist explain what he or she is striving to achieve?
We're not always entirely sure ourselves.
My Dylan paintings, now more than 40, come from a deep fascination
with the manner in which his own features have evolved.
And since all painting is a form of illusion, like Dylan himself,
it is fun to see how many ways a conglomeration of shapes, colors
and forms can be assembled to suggest the image of the icon.
Perhaps this is what the director of He's Not There was striving to produce.
