Man With Rose Colored Eyes
Acrylic on wrapping paper, 8"x10"
The piece evolved from a sheet of wrapping paper which, when I looked at it, seemed liked rows of eyes rather than rows of roses. So I painted a face around one pair of eyes. (below) I probably should have quit there, but continued to work and re-work the piece, continuously dissatisfied till I finally quit in the condition you see it above.

Lost In Translation
Acrylic on ceramic tile from Italy, 12' x 12"
Image based on the scene where Bill Murray is doing a whiskey commercial, the reason he has come to Tokyo. It strikes me as a pivotal scene, as he is required to act alive while inside feeling so dead.

Cowboy Bob
Acrylic on newsprint, 16"x 20"
I like this painting, based on yet another image of Bob Dylan,
and only regret that I did not paint it on a higher quality surface.
Simple yet evocative...

If These Shadows Remain Unaltered...
If These Shadows Remain Unaltered...
Pen and ink, on Strathmore drawing paper, 6" x 8"
Private collection of the artist
I was reminded of the comment by the Ghost of Christmas Future when he spoke to Scrooge while looking at Tiny Tim. So much of life really is predictable, if these shadows remain unaltered.

Harry Gold
Harry Gold
Acrylic on paper, approx. 11" x 14"
The title of this piece is from a short story I wrote in which every sentence was plagiarized from a different work of fiction. One line was from a Hemingway story, another from a Malcolm Lowry novel, etc. The story is of minor importance, but the concept was fun to execute, much like this painting here.

The Joker
Pastel on paper, 8" x 10"
It's such an iconic image. After seeing the film it was something fun to do, though inescapably bound to the real life tragedy of Heath Ledger, who so uniquely interpreted this role. Shared here today because it seems to remain associated with my Self Portrait as Dark Knight which I shared here yesterday.

Lady Day
One of the great jazz and blues singers of all times, if not the greatest, Billie Holiday was also known as Lady Day. I personally love this picture. The entire time I painted it I was listening to a great set of recordings of this lady singing the blues. You can read more about Lady Day at Ennyman's Territory.
